Masonic Work

Lodge meetings are held every third Thursday of the month from October to April at Freemasons Hall, Church Street, Saffron Walden, Essex.

During these meetings we conduct our Masonic business in two parts.

The first aspect is to attend to matters arising within the Lodge, much like any other business or club such as examining our financial affairs and dealing with communications from members and management.

Secondly is to conduct the ceremonies in the ancient tradition, which has changed very little in the last several hundred years, which include initiating new members, progressing members to higher degrees or the installation of a new master of the Lodge.

Meetings are followed by a meal we refer to as the ‘Festive Board’, which gives our members a chance to unwind and get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere.

Once a candidate is regularly initiated into Freemasonry, they are mentored and encouraged to progress through the various offices, carrying out pieces of work that will, in time, eventually lead them to becoming Master of the Lodge.
